Assistant Professor of Engineering

The Department of Engineering and Physics at Bridgewater College invites applications from candidates with expertise in electronics, control systems and mechatronics, for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Engineering position. We seek candidates who are engaged teacher-scholars and have a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, and advising undergraduates in an engineering program at a liberal arts college. The position will involve teaching courses at all levels of an undergraduate engineering curriculum in our newly introduced Engineering major that currently includes concentrations in mechanical engineering and mechatronics. Now beginning the third year phasing in our Engineering major, we are especially interested in adding an enthusiastic program builder to join our team and assist in developing the electrical systems curricular component.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A PhD in electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering or closely related field with expertise with sensors and control systems. Exceptional ABD or MS candidates with teaching or industry experience will also be considered for this position at ranks appropriate to experience.

Pay is competitive, and salary is commensurate with experience. This full-time position offers a full benefits package, including paid tuition at the College for eligible dependents.

Bridgewater College was founded in 1880 as a coeducational liberal arts college to serve the local community. Located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley, just minutes outside of Harrisonburg and within driving distance of Charlottesville, Washington D.C., and Richmond, Bridgewater is home to approximately 1,400 full-time students from 26 states and 19 countries.
