The Department of Physics and Engineering Science in the Gupta College of Science at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 16, 2026 in support of its Engineering Science program. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Electrical engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Industrial experience and/or a P.E. license are desirable. Coastal Carolina University prioritizes high-quality undergraduate teaching and student engagement. Applicants should be teacher-scholars who will establish research agendas that involve undergraduate students and teach introductory engineering courses and upper-level courses in their area. The position also requires engaging engineering students through active advising and mentoring extra-curricular groups. Start-up funds will be available to establish a research agenda that incorporates undergraduate students.

Current knowledge and mastery of demonstrable skills in area of expertise with ability and willingness to effectively communicate them to students and colleagues is required.

Job Duties

• Teaches students in the classroom and/or laboratory.
• Prepares content, syllabi, and University Moodle/curricular site for each course and/or lab assigned each semester. Communicates to students after reviewing assignments. Calculates and assigns grades (e.g., mid-term and final) through established procedures listed in the Faculty Manual and University Catalog. Tracks and reports absences as directed by the Office of the Registrar.
• Posts and holds regular office hours each week per College and University guidelines. Engages in University-related activities including committee assignments, meetings, ceremonies, events and scholarly pursuits as prescribed in the Faculty Manual.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Conducts research to create and add knowledge in a field, including the advancement of new theories and principles to improve educational effectiveness. Trains students in related research techniques.
