Assistant Professor of English (AI and Interactive Media)
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of English in the Department of English with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in AI and interactive media, to potentially include Interactive Narrative and Game Writing, Screenwriting, Digital Storytelling, Literature and Popular Culture, Prompt Engineering, AI and Writing Technologies, Game Studies, Games as Literature, Digital Humanities, English as a Field of Study, and/or Careers in English Studies
- KSU has a variable workload model, and the typical teaching load for research-active assistant professors is 3-2
- Service to Department/College/University/professional community is expected
- Active scholarship/creative activity in the candidate's specialization is expected. The hire will be eligible for scholarship support via start-up, department and college funds, etc.
Required Qualifications
- A Terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in English, or a related discipline, is required at the time of hire
- Research/creative specialization in AI and interactive media
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of a high-impact scholarly/creative agenda in the areas of creative, professional, applied, and/or technical writing
- Specific specialization in computational linguistics and/or computational humanities, as they relate to the field of interactive media; we are especially interested in candidates who are investigating questions related to storytelling, interactive media, what it means to be human in the AI era, and the ethics of AI usage in interactive media spaces
- Interdisciplinary interests and experiences working across departments in humanities and/or computational sciences
- Experience with pedagogies leveraging community writing, service and community learning, and work-based learning
- Articulated vision for expanding the impact of English Studies through work in their discipline
- Experience teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities
