College/School/Unit: MLA Department: English Posted: Oct 5, 2026 Apply By: Open until filled Description The Department of English at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Fall of academic year 2027-28. We seek an expert in one or more of the following areas of English literary and intellectual history, [contact details available in the full listing]: the late Renaissance; the Enlightenment; the Age of Revolution; classical liberalism;
abolitionism; Romanticism; Realism. Duties will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and service to the department, college, and university. Teaching courses in the university's core curriculum is reqquired. Qualifications Applicants must have completed all the requirements for the Ph.D. by time of appointment, or expect to obtain the Ph.D. within a year of joining the faculty as Instructor. Preferred qualifications include a robust research agenda and record of teaching excellence.
