Department
Central Connecticut State University’s School of Business is an
accredited member of AACSB International-The Association of Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business. Only six percent of business
programs worldwide have attained this prestigious distinction. The
School of Business provides high-quality, affordable, and
accessible educational programs for undergraduate and graduate
students from Central Connecticut and the greater Northeast
region.
The Finance Department is housed within Central Connecticut State
University’s School of Business and is committed to providing
students with high-quality, career-focused education that
integrates academic knowledge with real-world application. We offer
a comprehensive curriculum that includes a Bachelor of Science
(B.S.) in Finance with a general finance concentration and a
financial planning concentration, as well as a minor in personal
financial planning. The B.S. in Finance with financial planning
concentration at Central is registered and regulated by the
Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards, making it the
first CFP Board-registered financial planning program in
Connecticut.

The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s
commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and student
success. Key responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and
graduate courses in financial planning and finance, maintaining an
active program of scholarly research, supporting student growth and
professional development, engaging with the broader community, and
serving the department, School of Business, University, and
profession. The new hire is expected to be actively involved in our
CFP Board-registered financial planning program.

Association of University Professors (CSU-AAUP), full-time faculty

Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated
for appointment based on the following:
Education:
- All applicants must possess a doctoral degree in financial
planning or finance or a closely related field from an accredited
institution.
Special Notes: ABD candidates may be considered upon
evidence of anticipated completion by June 30, 2027.
- Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching in the field of
financial planning or finance or a closely related discipline at a
college or university.
- Demonstrated AACSB Scholarly Academic record of current and
relevant scholarship and activities related to the field.
Experience and Training:
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Relevant professional credentials or certifications, such as
CFP certification, JDs, CFA designation, or other recognized
credentials in financial planning or finance.
- Demonstrated substantial professional experience in financial
planning, especially in retirement planning, estate planning,
wealth management, or a closely related area, with preference for
experience at the level of manager or above.
- Demonstrated evidence of ongoing scholarly activities in the
field of financial planning or a closely related discipline.
**Candidates who possess a Doctorate or terminal degree plus at
least five (5) years of full- time service in a college or
university in a rank of Assistant Professor or above or its
comparable equivalent may be considered for appointment at the rank
of Associate Professor.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
In accordance with the Connecticut State University American
Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining
Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the rank of
Assistant Professor for 2027-2028
[$81,149- $108,199].
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. For more
