Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, 3D specialist
The American University of Paris invites applications for a full-time position in the Department of Art History and Fine Arts at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning 1 August 2026. The candidate should be experienced with traditional and contemporary art techniques related to volume and design, and/or architecture methodologies. The candidate should be able to teach sculpture classes at all levels (beginning, intermediate and advanced), special topics classes, and capstone courses like the Junior and Senior Seminars. The candidate will have good knowledge of and the ability to teach the history of their discipline and demonstrate a deep knowledge of the materials, techniques and processes of their specialty (sculptures, objects or buildings). The candidate will have a good mastery of computer tools and digital 3D technology, and knowledge of past and current research methodology applied to their domain. Administrative experience (such as Program Coordinator or Department Chair) and interest in curricular development is desirable. An interest in supervising the university gallery and/or the student gallery space is also a plus.
Responsibilities:
- The teaching load is six courses per academic year.
- Teaching responsibilities will primarily be focused on the department’s curriculum, while also supporting the teaching of AUP’s core curriculum.

- Commitment to scholarship, excellence in teaching, integrative learning.
- Service to the department (contributing to curricular development and innovation, collegial behavior, advising students).
- Willingness to contribute to the first-year program.
- Willingness to provide service to the university (participation in committee work, assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration).
- Participating in faculty governance, including attending full faculty, department, and committee meetings.
- Working in a professional and collegial manner with the university community.
- Maintaining compliance with policies and procedures in the Faculty Manual.
