Job Title: Assistant Professor of Fine Arts

Location: Talladega College

Position Overview: Talladega College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Fine Arts. The successful candidate will provide in-person instruction via a 5/5 teaching load and support undergraduates in the Department of Fine Arts, School of Humanities and Fine Arts. This is a nine-month position that is slated to begin during the Spring 2026 semester.

Reports to: Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts

Key Responsibilities: Teach and advise associate and undergraduate level courses in fine arts and serve on College committees

Preferred Qualifications:

• Terminal degree in fine arts from an accredited institution
• A record of professional performance and/or scholarly achievement
• At least eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in ceramics, sculpture, or traditional media 3D art

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in fine arts from an accredited institution
• Evidence of successful teaching experience at the collegiate or secondary level
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Teach fine arts and studio courses in primarily traditional and blended formats
• Academically advise students, including transfer credits
• Recruit and retain students
• Recommend a schedule of classes to be offered in the department each semester
• Administer college policies and procedures
• Develop and assess program and student learning outcomes
• Serve on committees
• Review and revise department catalog information
• Project a professional, positive, and upbeat disposition
• Meet established deadlines
• Utilize and remain current with the College’s and instructional technologies
• Participate in departmental and institutional service, including curriculum development, program assessment, and faculty committees
• Engage in ongoing professional development, creative activity, research, and/or performance that contributes to the field and enhances teaching
• Collaborate with faculty colleagues across the School of Humanities and Fine Arts to advance interdisciplinary learning and community engagement
• Represent Talladega College in state, regional, and national art organizations, performances, and events
