"Assistant Professor of German in Wake Forest University Department of German and Russian (R0008004)"

The Department of German and Russian welcomes applications for a tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor, with a specialization in Germanic Linguistics. The position begins July 1, 2026. Skillful teaching is a key responsibility, with a course load of nine (9) courses over four (4) semesters that includes courses at both introductory and advanced undergraduate levels. Additionally, the successful candidate will maintain a robust program of research, publication, and/or creative production, in keeping with standards of the discipline, and support the Wake Forest University mission through service to the department, the College of Liberal Arts, and the University.

An earned Ph.D. in Germanic Linguistics or a related field is required for the position; ABD candidates are invited to apply. Qualified applicants will demonstrate their ability to teach courses in German linguistics, language, culture, and for professional purposes, initiate and sustain original research and scholarship in their area(s) of expertise, and contribute to an academic environment that fosters learning and growth for all its stakeholders.
