Assistant Professor of History

The University of West Georgia is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of History Education in the School of Humanities with a start date of August 2026.

Required Qualifications: Earned Ph.D. in History or History Education by July 31, 2026; record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications: Record of teaching history/social studies at the secondary (grades 6-12) level. Preference will be given to candidates who express an ability and desire to teach cross-listed courses, particularly with English, courses in digital humanities, or ones offering interdisciplinary approaches to the humanities.

Proposed Salary: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Documents to Attach: Candidates should submit these materials no later than November 15, 2025: CV, Cover Letter describing your interest in the position and related experiences in research and teaching, Unofficial Transcripts (Official Transcripts and Official International Course-by-Course Evaluations Due Upon Hire), Teaching portfolio containing a Statement of teaching philosophy and sample syllabi/lesson plans, Names, phone numbers, and email addresses of at least 3 references.
