Assistant Professor of Information Systems & Computer Science
Job Summary
The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology at Georgia College & State University, with programs of study accredited by AACSB and a BS in Computer Science accredited by ABET, invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Computer Science. Candidates with a terminal degree and disciplinary background in Computer Science are encouraged to apply. The faculty member, in this 10-month tenure-track position, will teach courses in Computer Science including Java. Any secondary area in Computer Science or Data Science is welcome. The Department of Information Systems & Computer Science offers academic programs of study including a BS in Computer Science, BS in Data Science, BBA in Management Information Systems, and Master of Management Information Systems and participates in the highly successful Georgia WebMBA.
Responsibilities
Teaching
- Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline
- Regular course meetings and instruction
- Mentoring students
- Other teaching responsibilities
- All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.
Research
- Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within the profession.

Service

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
PhD in Computer Science or related field; ABD considered; all faculty must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)).
Required Experience
Some teaching experience.

Work experience in the field.
Secondary area of Data Science, AI, or other CS area.
Preferred Experience
Instructor of record for college level classes in the related discipline
