Description

The Public Health Program at the University of Texas at Austin is recruiting qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position for the Fall 2025 semester. This position seeks candidates with a strong track record of university teaching experience at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Instruction.

Primary duties for this position include teaching project management, planning and program evaluation, and other public health courses depending on department needs and the candidate's qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to teach multiple courses each semester, participate in course development activities, contribute to program accreditation activities, conduct regular office hours, and manage an instructional team. Service on departmental committees, participation in peer teaching observations, and involvement in curriculum development efforts are also expected.

The rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction carries a nine-month appointment, renewed annually based on demonstrated teaching excellence and need of the department.

Applications received on or before October 1, 2025, will be given priority consideration but we will continue to accept applications until the position is filled.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree in public health or a related field (PhD, DrPH, MD/MPH, etc.). Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate students at the university level is preferred. Experience in providing public health or related services is highly desirable. CAPM or PMP certification is also highly desirable.

We seek a qualified candidate to teach project management, planning and program evaluation and other public health courses in-person for a total of three class sections during both the fall and spring semesters. Thus, the ideal candidate will have specialized knowledge and experience in project management, planning and/or program evaluation, and demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience including experiential instruction and learning, use of innovative instructional methods, and mentoring student research projects and honors theses; proven scholarship and achievement; and the ability to work with a dynamic and creative team.

Application Instructions

Interested applicants should submit the following on Interfolio: (a) a cover letter describing relevant experience, and public health experience more broadly; (b) a curriculum vitae; (c) a statement of teaching experience and interests, including a record of prior teaching evaluations, if available; and (d) three letters of reference who can speak to your ability as an instructor.

Questions regarding the position may be directed to the director of the public health program, Dr. Sonia Gonzalez (sg2@utexas.edu).

Applicants must satisfactorily complete pre-employment screening requirements, including verification of academic credentials and background check.

The College of Natural Sciences views welcoming the entire college community and excellence as interconnected in the work of its faculty.
