Definition of Classification:
The Kinesiology Department at the University of Redlands is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 2027. A new program at Redlands, the Kinesiology major is growing quickly, and we seek to support and broaden our existing curriculum to meet increasing student interest and demand. We are looking for a dynamic teacher-scholar who will contribute to the continued development of the program through excellence in teaching, undergraduate mentorship, and collaborative engagement across disciplines. The successful candidate will teach courses for both non-majors and majors as well as involve undergraduates in research and experiential learning opportunities. Faculty and students have opportunities to collaborate with neighboring institutions, including Loma Linda University Medical Center, creating a dynamic and collaborative academic environment. Applicants with broad training in exercise physiology, biomechanics, or related areas within kinesiology – as well as clinical and/or professional experience, are preferred.
The University of Redlands is an independent, regional, comprehensive university with strong roots in liberal arts education. We are a Hispanic Serving Institution, with 40% of our student body composed of first-generation students and believe that bringing together faculty, students, and staff from diverse cultural and/or socio-economic backgrounds creates a richer learning environment. Furthermore, the University of Redlands is committed to providing students with transformative experiential learning opportunities through its Core Four initiative: undergraduate research, community service learning, internships, and study away. We welcome candidates who are enthusiastic about supporting student participation in high-impact practices and integrating experiential learning into their teaching, mentoring, and advising.
An earned doctorate (or near completion of degree) in kinesiology or physical therapy is required at the time of appointment. If the degree is not complete at the time of appointment, the appointed candidate may begin at the rank of instructor and convert to assistant professor upon completion of the degree within a reasonable and agreed upon period of time. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
