Assistant Professor of Landscape Ecology
The Department of Geography at Simon Fraser University (SFU) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Landscape Ecology. We seek a scientist with interests in ecological processes and patterns, and in the investigation of such processes and patterns across a range of landscape scales from local to global, including the role of human-environment interactions. Links to other branches of physical geography/earth system science are desirable. The tentative start date for this position is July 15, 2026.
Candidates must have a completed Ph.D. in physical geography, earth system science, landscape ecology, or a related discipline at the time of appointment.
We seek candidates with demonstrated excellence in research, potential for excellence in teaching and supervision, and commitment to collegial service. The successful candidate will develop an externally funded, nationally and internationally recognized program of research. They will demonstrate the ability and willingness to teach undergraduate courses on the role of the biosphere in the earth system in the Physical Geography program such as GEOG 215 (The Biosphere), GEOG 315 (World Ecosystems) and GEOG 316 (Global Biogeochemical and Water Cycles) plus related graduate courses, and to provide research direction and graduate supervision.
Faculty salaries at SFU are based on the salary scales bargained between the University and the SFU Faculty Association. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $104,700 - $148,322 (dependent on experience and inclusive of a potential market differential).
