Assistant Professor of Learning/Applied
Job Details
Due to growth in the number of undergraduate majors and minors, the Gupta College of Science and Department of Psychology at Coastal Carolina University invite applications for one full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Successful candidates will have a background in learning or an applied area. Candidates with ABA certification are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will be appointed to a full-time, nine-month position beginning in August 2026.
Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate with a background in learning or an applied area of psychology, such as applied behavior analysis or sports psychology (ABD will be considered if defense is completed by August 16, 2026)
- A record of, or potential for, excellence in university teaching, research, and service
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A strong commitment to undergraduate education and mentoring student research
Desired Qualifications:
- Undergraduate teaching experience
- Experience mentoring student research
- A record of external funding for scholarly activities
Responsibilities:
- 3:3 teaching load, which will include largely in-person instruction in some combination of beginning or intermediate psychological statistics, research methods, and courses in areas related to the candidate’s expertise
- Development of an active research program that includes both the mentoring of student research assistants and the potential for external funding
- Engage in service to the department, college, and University. Advising of students may also be required.

The Department of Psychology currently has approximately 700 majors, accounting for approximately 25% of the majors for the Gupta College of Science and provides coursework for undergraduate students seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, a minor in psychology, and concentrations in mental health, forensic psychology, and behavioral neuroscience.
