The Assistant Instructional Professor teaches a range of courses that count towards students' major requirements, including writing seminars and topics courses; advises students about relevant course offerings across a number of divisions and departments at the University of Chicago; guides students through the milestones in the program; participates, in conjunction with faculty, in the assessment of students' written work; writes letters of recommendation for students; and assists with the organization of program events, including guest lectures, outings, and special seminars.
The normal teaching load for Instructional Professors at the University of Chicago is 7 courses or an equivalent combination of teaching, advising, and administrative duties. Course assignments and other duties of the Program Coordinator will be determined annually by the Faculty Director of the Fundamentals Program and the Master of the Arts & Humanities Collegiate Division.

QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Comparative literature, English literature, philosophy, religion, or a related humanities field and experience in undergraduate advising and working collaboratively with faculty and administrators in a number of disciplinary, geographic and chronological frameworks.
