Assistant Professor of Mathematics

Job Summary

The School of Arts & Sciences seeks dynamic applicants for a tenure track faculty position in Mathematics. This is an academic year (10-month) contract. The contract is expected to begin on August 1.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement undergraduate courses in mathematics, including learning support mathematics.
2. Teach a full load of classes during the Fall and Spring terms.
3. Employ effective and accessible use of educational technology across course modalities.
4. Maintain on campus office hours, develop syllabi and lesson plans, deliver lectures and course materials, and submit grades and attendance promptly.
5. Collaborate effectively and teach face-to-face, hybrid, or online courses at the Brunswick campus, Camden Center, or local high schools as needed.
6. Conduct academic advisement for academic programs within the department.
7. Maintain a commitment to using high-impact practices.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Doctoral degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution at time of hire. The doctorate must be completed by July 1, 2026.

Required Experience: Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Evidence of professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification or professional development in online teaching. Experience teaching co-requisite/learning support courses. A background in data science, applied mathematics, or computer science with the ability to teach a variety of courses in support of the College’s degree programs. Two years of experience teaching Mathematics at the collegiate level.
