Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Job Summary
The School of Arts & Sciences seeks dynamic applicants for a tenure track faculty position in Mathematics. This is an academic year (10-month) contract. The contract is expected to begin on August 1.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement undergraduate courses in mathematics, including learning support mathematics.
- Teach a full load of classes during the Fall and Spring terms.
- Employ effective and accessible use of educational technology across course modalities.
- Maintain on campus office hours, develop syllabi and lesson plans, deliver lectures and course materials, and submit grades and attendance promptly.
- Collaborate effectively and teach face-to-face, hybrid, or online courses at the Brunswick campus, Camden Center, or local high schools as needed.
- Conduct academic advisement for academic programs within the department.
- Maintain a commitment to using high-impact practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements: Doctoral degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution at time of hire. The doctorate must be completed by July 1, 2026.
Required Experience: Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Evidence of professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification or professional development in online teaching. Experience teaching co-requisite/learning support courses. A background in data science, applied mathematics, or computer science with the ability to teach a variety of courses in support of the College’s degree programs. Two years of experience teaching Mathematics at the collegiate level.
