curricular and co-curricular offerings, and the Association of College and University Educators chose Franklin College’s mathematics curriculum as well as its innovative Statistical Consulting Project course as models for 21 st century career preparation. The department values discovery-based, collaborative learning and intentionally scaffolds the use of technology into its courses.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to engaged, student-centered teaching and learning as well as a sincere interest in working with undergraduates in a supportive liberal arts environment. This tenure-track position requires someone who enjoys teaching a variety of mathematics courses, ranging from academic support courses to courses for majors. We especially welcome candidates with the expertise needed to also teach statistics, data science, or introductory computing courses as well as those who are eager to pursue curricular innovation.
The standard teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year, with additional participation in the College’s distinctive Immersive Term once every three years. In addition to teaching, faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly activity and actively contribute to the life of the College by advising students, supervising internships, serving on committees, and engaging in departmental and institutional initiatives.
Applicants must possess a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field. ABD candidates whose degree is expected by August 2027 will be considered. Evidence of effective teaching, coaching, training, or formal classroom experience is preferred.
