Assistant Professor of Ophthalmic Sciences (In Ophthalmology) at CUIMC
Independently lead a research program focused on the molecular and cellular mechanisms governing retinal development. Design and execute innovative experimental strategies integrating mouse genetics, live imaging, RNA sequencing, and disease models to address fundamental and translational questions in ocular biology.
Secure and manage extramural research funding, including serving as Principal Investigator on federally funded grants and developing new competitive funding applications to expand the laboratory’s research portfolio.
Build and manage a research team by supervising technicians, trainees, and collaborators; provide scientific direction, oversee experimental design and data interpretation, and ensure rigorous scientific and ethical research standards. Mentor trainees in experimental design and research development, contributing to the training of future physician-scientists and biomedical researchers.
Actively participate in the academic community through manuscript peer review, membership in major professional societies, invited presentations at international conferences, and interdisciplinary collaboration across basic and clinical research laboratories. Contribute to institutional academic missions by advancing translational research in retinal disease, fostering collaborative initiatives, and supporting departmental goals in research excellence, education, and academic service.
Ph.D., MD/Ph.D., MD and at least 3-5 years of high-level experience
