Position Description
The Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education, and School Psychology (CLAS) in the College of Education at Texas State University, a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) located in San Marcos, Texas, invites applications for a tenure-earning assistant professor position of Professional Counseling beginning August 2027. This position is focused on teaching and research in the School Counseling Concentration and involves teaching, research, service, and program support in a vibrant master's program in Central Texas. Specific responsibilities include teaching courses in Professional Counseling, maintaining an active and productive program of research, engaging in external funding submissions, and providing service to the program, department, university, and profession.
Program: The Professional Counseling Program is CACREP-accredited in three specialty areas: Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling; and School Counseling. This position will include teaching core courses in our counseling program, with a particular focus on school counseling courses, Developmental Issues, and Child and Adolescent Counseling. The successful candidate will be headquartered on the main university campus in San Marcos and will teach courses on both the main university campus in San Marcos and at the university's Round Rock campus.

Department: The CLAS Department serves approximately 975 students seeking undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in Professional Counseling (COUN), Educational and Community Leadership (EDCL), Adult, Professional, and Community Education (APCE), School Psychology (SPSY), Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE), and Integrated Studies (INTS).
