About the Position

The Department of Psychology at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for at least one full-time position at the level of:

  • Tenure-Track Assistant Professor – six-year contract with research and teaching obligations; eligible for promotion to Associate Professor upon positive evaluation.
  • Associate Professor – permanent position with research and teaching obligations.

Candidates can apply for one or both levels but will only be evaluated at the level(s) indicated in the application.

The successful candidate(s) will join the SCOPE section (Social, Cultural, Organisational, Personality and Educational Psychology) and contribute to teaching and research in Work, Organizational, and/or Personnel Psychology. Teaching responsibilities include elective seminars and lecture series at both undergraduate and master’s levels, delivered in Danish and English.

Department Overview

The Department of Psychology is one of Northern Europe’s leading psychology departments, with over 100 staff members, 50+ PhD students, and approximately 1,500 undergraduate and master’s students. Research is organized into three sections:

  1. Clinical, Health, and Humanistic Psychology
  2. Cognition and Neuropsychology
  3. SCOPE Psychology

The department values interdisciplinary collaboration, high ethical and research standards, and integration of applied and basic psychological research.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality research in Work, Organizational, and/or Personnel Psychology.
  • Contribute to implementing the departmental strategy and shared academic goals.
  • Deliver excellent teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Participate in academic administration, student support, and departmental initiatives (commensurate with rank).
  • Contribute to societal impact, knowledge dissemination, and public engagement.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualifications: PhD in Psychology or a closely related field.
  • Research: Emerging (Assistant Professor) or established (Associate Professor) record in Work, Organizational, and/or Personnel Psychology.
  • Teaching: Demonstrated experience in teaching, planning, and coordination; formal education in higher education teaching is expected.
  • Supervision: Experience supervising junior researchers (required for Associate Professor).
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; willingness to contribute to departmental leadership and service.
  • Commitment to student learning and enhancing the student experience.

Merit and career progression will be assessed based on six criteria: research, teaching, societal impact, organizational contribution, external funding, and management.

Terms of Appointment

  • Salary and terms follow the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne), including an 18.07% pension contribution.
  • Salary supplements may be negotiated annually.
  • Non-Danish speaking employees are encouraged and supported to acquire Danish proficiency within 3–6 years.
  • The university provides support and relocation services for international staff and accompanying families.
