Fayetteville State University is a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina and the second-oldest public institution of higher education in the state. Founded in 1867 as the Howard School for the education of African Americans, today FSU serves a growing student body of approximately 6,000 and ranks among the nation's most diverse campus communities. The Department of Psychology offers a B.S. degree in Psychology (with options for an online degree completion program, Work and Organization, and Health concentrations) and an M.A. degree in Psychology with Research and Health tracks.
Primary Purpose of the Position
Fayetteville State University's Department of Psychology seeks qualified and dedicated candidates for two (2) Tenure-Track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall 2026 semester. All qualified applicants will be considered for open positions. The primary purpose of the position is to teach core courses and, potentially, to contribute to the growth of a master's program in counseling/clinical psychology. The candidate will also be expected to develop a research program.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Earned doctorate degree in psychology from an accredited university. ABD (All but Dissertation) are encouraged to apply. There is an expectation that the successful candidate selected for the position will receive a doctoral degree at the time of appointment.
Knowledge skills and abilities
- Knowledge of core psychology concepts and theories.
- Research experience as evidenced by publications/dissertation.
- Demonstrated comfort working with and teaching a diverse population of colleagues and students.
- A commitment to collegiality.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of teaching experience at the college level.
