Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Professor of Recreation and Sport Management is a 9-month, full-time faculty position. We are particularly interested in candidates with a research focus in college athletics or related area of study. The primary duties and responsibilities include establishing a research agenda capable of securing external funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at professional conferences; teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in Recreation and Sport Management; supervising theses, dissertations, and honors projects; mentoring/advising both undergraduate and graduate students; and providing service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Recreation and Sport Management or related field conferred by the start of employment; An established or emerging research agenda focused on college athletics or related area; Evidence of refereed publications and presentations; Potential for securing external funding. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience at the collegiate level (undergraduate and graduate); Experience teaching in the area of college athletics; Experience working in the field of Recreation and Sport Management or related field; Evidence of effective student mentoring/advising; Experience with grant writing/management.
