POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Educational Leadership and Research Methodology in the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the School Leaders Program, beginning Fall 2026. This 9-month appointment seeks a scholar dedicated to advancing democratic principles, excellence, and innovation in preparing educational leaders across P–20 contexts. The successful candidate will maintain a focused research agenda, teach graduate-level courses, and serve on Ph.D. dissertation committees as content and methodological expert. The School Leaders faculty supports robust master’s and doctoral programs, and the selected candidate is expected to collaborate ethically with colleagues, students, and partners to advance the mission and goals of the program, department, college, and university.

About the Department of Educational Leadership and Research Methodology (ELRM)
The Department of Educational Leadership and Research Methodology (ELRM) in FAU’s College of Education prepares the next generation of leaders in K–12 schools, higher education, and research methodology. Offering master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees, ELRM combines rigorous scholarship with practice-based preparation to equip leaders who are ethical, innovative, and democratic. Faculty in the department are active scholars and mentors who work collaboratively with schools, districts, universities, and communities to strengthen educational systems across Florida and beyond. ELRM’s commitment to excellence, service, and a culture of belonging ensures that graduates are well-prepared to address today’s most pressing educational challenges while shaping the future of learning organizations.
CANDIDATE’S MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in educational leadership with a focus on PreK-12 or a related discipline by the date of hire
- Proven evidence of scholarly potential in the field of educational/school leadership and active scholarly participation in professional educational organizations.
- Focused research agenda in School Leadership-related inquiry
- Demonstrated ability or potential to effectively work with all students, using innovative instructional approaches and methods.
- Teaching experience using multiple technologies to deliver (Fully Online course delivery, hybrid courses and face-to-face instruction).
- A record of engagement in professional service and community engagement activities that align with the advancement of the discipline.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledgeable about and ability to facilitate students’ critical engagement with current trends in educational leadership.
- Teaching experience as an instructor for school leaders in higher education settings.
- Evidence of positive teaching evaluations
- Leadership experience in K-12 public schools.
- Expertise in quantitative and mixed-methods educational leadership research.
EXPECTATIONS OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES:
- Teach graduate courses in educational leadership
- Advise doctoral students, chair dissertations, and serve on dissertation committees
- Engage in professional service to assist with state and national accreditation
- Participate in all meetings and assigned committees related to the School Leaders Program and Department of Educational Leadership and Research Methodology
- Work collaboratively and ethically with other faculty, staff, and students within the department, college, and university, while promoting the mission and goals of the department and the teaching profession
- Maintain an active research and scholarship agenda in educational leadership
Salary: Commensurate with experience.

LOCATION: Opportunities to work are available at our Boca Raton campus as well as our other campuses in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
