Job Details
The School of Social Work at the University of Arkansas Little Rock (UA Little Rock) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Social Work (P00001591/R0086778). This is a 9-month tenure-track faculty position set to begin August 16, 2027. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited School of Social Work is an academic unit within the College of Business, Health, and Human Services and boasts growing BSW and MSW programs. We are seeking a faculty member who is committed to teaching and community involvement. This person will teach three classes each semester at the undergraduate and/or graduate level as assigned. They are also expected to provide service to the School and community.
Required Qualifications:
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited School of Social Work;
- Doctoral degree in Social Work or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered).
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of social work practice experience;
- Prior teaching experience in higher education with the ability to teach across the curriculum;
- Online teaching experience;
- LMSW or LCSW (or LCSW eligible if not currently licensed in Arkansas).
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach BSW and/or MSW as assigned;
- Provide service to the School;
- Maintain contemporary course content aligned with accreditation standards;
- Engage in scholarship sufficient to meet requirements of promotion, tenure, or other advancements, as appropriate for rank;
- Engage in service at the university, community, and professional levels sufficient to meet requirements for promotion, tenure, or other advancement, as appropriate for rank;
- Respond to inquiries regarding the designated program(s);
- Monitor student progress through the program(s) and adjust degree plans as necessary;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
