Department Information: The Department of Mathematics offers B.S. degrees in Pure and Applied Mathematics, Teaching Mathematics, and Statistics. It focuses on student-centered learning and undergraduate research.
Position Description: Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2025.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Statistics or a closely related field required by time of appointment. Demonstrate research productivity in statistics, with preferred areas including financial econometrics, time series analysis, and volatility modeling. Experience using R in the classroom and interest in teaching a broad range of courses to diverse students, engaging in undergraduate research, and statistical consulting. Serious consideration for candidates interested in AI technologies. Prior university teaching experience and commitment to diverse student backgrounds required.
Teaching and Research Duties: Teaching load of 12 units/semester. Assigned time for research during first two years, with expectations to develop a research agenda, maintain publications, and collaborate interdisciplinary.
Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor; salary based on qualifications and experience. Anticipated annual salary range: $78,000 - $90,000.
