Description
The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Medicine. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026.

Requirements
Candidates must have earned a PhD in a discipline related to Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine by the time of appointment, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and interdisciplinary research focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of neoplasms of the head and neck. Candidates will have a demonstrated clinical and teaching experience in oral oncology and hospital-based oral medicine. We seek candidates whose research, clinical, and teaching interests complement and enhance existing strengths within the Faculty of Dentistry.
Candidates must hold a DDS/DMD/BDS degree (or equivalent), and must have successfully completed specialty training in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine in a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) in the United States, or in a non-accredited program followed by successful completion of qualification through a Dental Specialty Assessment and Training Program.
Candidates must be eligible for, or hold, licensure as a dental specialist with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and must have practical clinical experience in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Fellowship in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCDC) in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine or a Diplomate in both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Maxillofacial Pathology, and the American Board of Oral Medicine.
Responsibilities
Candidates will be expected to develop and sustain innovative and independent research, and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program in the Field of Oral and Pathology and Oral Medicine with a focus on Oral Oncology, and contribute to the Faculty’s academic mission through teaching, research, and service.
Evidence of research excellence must include a strong record of publications in leading, field-relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, a well-articulated research statement, presentations at major national and international conferences, research awards, scholarships and honours, and strong endorsements from referees.
The Faculty of Dentistry is committed to fostering an inclusive academic environment. Candidates should bring innovative approaches to advance interdisciplinary collaboration within the Faculty.
Candidates will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Medicine. Evidence of teaching excellence will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (with required materials as outlined below) submitted as part of the application and strong letters of reference.
Salary
The expected salary range is $125,000 CAD to $150,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
