Assistant Professor, Pharmacy Practice
Position Summary
The Department of Pharmacy Practice at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences invites applications from qualified candidates to join the College at the rank of Assistant Professor for a non-tenure track appointment. Applicants with experience in adult internal medicine or adult internal medicine sub-specialties in an inpatient setting are welcome to apply. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical practice and interpersonal skills, an ability to work independently yet contribute to a team, good organizational skills, and a commitment to teaching.
The faculty member will develop a patient-centered, team-based, clinical pharmacy practice site. The faculty member will actively participate in the mission of the College and School of Pharmacy; provide appropriate service to the Department, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the profession of pharmacy. The Assistant Professor will report to the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a clinical practice site to support and APPE rotations.
- Performs teaching responsibilities as assigned by Pharmacy Practice Department Chair.
- Participates in experiential education rotations as assigned.
- Participates in didactic teaching as assigned.
- Develop, deliver, and enhance interprofessional education opportunities for pharmacy students.
- Serve the Department of Pharmacy Practice, ACPHS and the profession of pharmacy
- Attend/participate in monthly Department of Pharmacy Practice department meetings and other committee meetings as per assigned service.
- Advises pharmacy students as assigned.
- Participation and leadership in professional and scientific organizations is also encouraged.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of teaching and learning pedagogy and student success initiatives.
- Knowledge of academic programming related to pharmacy education.
- Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to communicate and present information effectively to internal and external audiences.
- Ability to multi-task, develop and present workshops or training, and to advise and guide students specific to pharmacy learning opportunities.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and work ethic.
- Observes schedules and meets assignment deadlines.
- Demonstrates willingness to learn/enhance skills needed to perform responsibilities.
Education and Experience
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited institution or equivalent Residency and/or fellowship or equivalent experience in adult medicine subspecialty, required.
- Prior experience in academic instruction, precepting, or clinical skills training, preferred.
- Familiarity with active learning methodologies and competency-based assessments, preferred.
- Experience with instructional technology and simulation-based learning, preferred.
