Assistant Professor Political Science & Public Administration (Tenure-Track)
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Texas Southern University (TSU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Public Affairs beginning in Fall 2026. We are seeking a dynamic scholar and dedicated educator with expertise in public policy, public administration, and/or public affairs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses across these areas, maintain an active research agenda, and contribute to the service mission of the university.
(Tenured-Track position)
Essential Duties Summary:
- Teaching (Undergraduate Focus): Teach a 3/3 or 3/4 course load per academic year. Responsibilities include delivering engaging in-person and/or online courses in undergraduate Political Science (e.g., American Government, Public Policy) and Public Affairs (e.g., Public Administration, Organizational Theory).
- Curriculum Development: Develop and update undergraduate curriculum to align with current industry trends and academic standards, particularly in emergency management and public administration.
- Research and Scholarship: Maintain an active research agenda resulting in high-quality, peer-reviewed publications in public administration, public affairs, or related policy fields.
- Student Advising & Mentorship: Provide academic advising to undergraduate students and mentor students pursuing careers in public and non-profit.
- Service & Collaboration: Participate in departmental, college, and university committees. Engage in service to the profession and foster partnerships with community, state, or federal agencies, particularly regarding public sector leadership.
