Offer Description
RECTOR of the Jagiellonian University announces a selection procedure for the position of an ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in the Institute of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University.
Project title: Early modern philosophy of the 17th and 18th centuries; the philosophy of the Enlightenment
Project leader: dr hab. Anna Tomaszewska, prof. UJ
The project team at the Jagiellonian University is examining, in particular, the question of religion and its Enlightenment critique as a useful illusion, as well as the political significance of historical and revealed religion, particularly through the writings of Immanuel Kant. Researchers working on the "Enlightenment and Publicity" project are expected to provide an in-depth analysis of themes in the philosophy of religion of the late Enlightenment that are directly relevant to the project's theme.

The selection procedure is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.3) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 165 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:
- holding at least a doctoral degree;
- having relevant scientific achievements;
- taking active part in scientific life.
Specific Requirements
- publications in renowned international journals or other publishing venues; the subject matter of the publications should be related to the topic of the research project,
- participation in international conferences and/or research projects whose subject matter is related to the topic of the research project.

- copy of the doctoral diploma or a diploma confirming the Candidate’s (F/M) habilitation degree, if applicable,
- information on the Candidate’s (F/M) scientific, teaching and organisational achievements,
- declaration of the Candidate (F/M), confirming that the Jagiellonian University will be their primary place of work, should they be selected in the selection procedure,
- statement under Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science,
- statement on acknowledging and accepting the rules and regulations concerning intellectual property management and commercialisation in force at the Jagiellonian University,
- a brief description of the research planned in the project (500-800 words),
- a recommendation from an independent researcher will be appreciated but is optional.

Selection process
The first stage of the selection procedure is the formal assessment of the submitted documents. Applications which meet all formal requirements are the subject of substantive assessment, during which an interview with the Candidate (F/M) may be conducted (directly or via electronic communication channels), upon settling the date of the interview with the Candidate (F/M). During the interview, the soft competencies indicated in the announcement will also be verified. The Candidate (F/M) has the right to appeal against the negative assessment by the selection board within 7 days from receiving the information about the results of the assessment. The selection procedure is conducted in accordance with The Policy of Open, Transparent and Merit-Based Recruitment Process at the Jagiellonian University.

Scope of duties:
The tasks of the person employed in this position include preparing scientific articles related to the topic of the project (for publication in renowned peer-reviewed journals and/or publishing houses) and active participation in scientific conferences and workshops, as well as participation in the research seminar of the project; organizational assistance in preparing scientific events within the project (workshops, seminars, colloquia); conducting independent research and library search queries
