Offer Description
The position is funded under the project “Centre for Credible AI at the Warsaw University of Technology”, financed through the FENG MAB programme (contract no. FENG.02.01-IP.05-0058/24).
Candidates are required:
- a PhD in Math, Computer Science, Physics, Artificial Intelligence or similar field/ related discipline obtained no more than five years prior to the application date*;
- proven experience in designing methods for the exploration and analysis of AI models, in particular attention mechanisms;
- documented experience in research work on AI models with applications in the space sector or similar (previous cooperation with the European Space Agency is welcome);
- ability to conduct independent research as well as to work effectively in a team, including readiness for interdisciplinary collaboration and mentoring/supporting junior researchers;
- very good command of the English language.
*The five-year period is calculated from the year in which the doctoral degree was awarded. The beginning of this period is determined by the calendar year of obtaining the degree, and the end by the year preceding the deadline for submitting applications in the competition. The five-year limit may be extended by any documented interruptions in research activity that occurred after the award of the doctoral degree, provided that each interruption lasted no less than six months. Documented interruptions in research activity include, among others, unpaid leaves, parental leaves, breaks caused by long-term illness, employment in the R&D sector without involvement in scientific research, or employment in other sectors of the economy. For women who have given birth to a child or for individuals who have adopted a child, the five-year period shall be extended by one year per child, regardless of the date of birth or adoption, even if the documented leave or break related to this event was shorter.

Candidates for the position of Assistant Professor shall meet the following criteria:
- PhD degree awarded no more than five years before the application date* in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, or a related discipline;
- Possess a documented record of scientific publications relevant to the thematic scope of the MAB project within the specified research area(s);
- Demonstrate the ability to conduct independent, high-quality research;
- Exhibit an excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.

- no disciplinary penalty as defined in Article 276 section 1 items 7 and 8 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 being imposed on them

Selection process
The recruitment procedure will be conducted in accordance with the principles of Open, Transparent and Merit-based Recruitment (OTM-R), as adopted by the Warsaw University of Technology and in line with the recommendations of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
The procedure will include the following stages:
- Pre-selection based on submitted applications.
- Second stage of recruitment: evaluation of scientific achievements and professional experience based on submitted documents.
- Recruitment interviews.
- Assessment and selection of the candidate.
The Selection Committee will consist of senior researchers representing the relevant scientific disciplines, as well as a representative of the Centre for Credible AI at the Warsaw University of Technology. The Committee will act independently, ensuring objectivity and impartiality of the evaluation process.
The recruitment process will respect the principles of gender equality, diversity, and inclusion, in line with the institutional Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) adopted by the Warsaw University of Technology.
Additional comments
Annual salary (range for FTE) 170-210k PLN gross in the first year (+6% annual increase).
