Assistant Professor-Professor
Michigan Medicine’s Kellogg Eye Center is dedicated to improving lives around the world by enhancing vision. The University of Michigan School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking outstanding candidates with fellowship training in pediatric and adult vitreoretinal surgery and a clinical or basic research focus on retinal diseases. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a clinical and surgical practice in pediatric and adult retina, including screening and surgical treatment of ROP, and an independent research program in visual sciences with a primary appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology. A joint appointment in an appropriate basic science department will be considered for applicable candidates.
The candidate will be expected to participate in research and graduate education as well as in departmental efforts in education in ophthalmology and visual sciences. Additional teaching duties may be associated with a joint appointment in a basic science department. The University of Michigan Medical School provides an outstanding academic environment for all areas of biomedical sciences and has for many years been a leading center for research in ophthalmology and visual sciences. Vision research at the University of Michigan is supported by a Vision Core grant supporting outstanding facilities and an NEI-funded training grant for graduate students and fellows in eye research.
M.D., hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the state of Michigan, and be Board-eligible or Board-certified in Ophthalmology. Evidence of clinical competency and competency in clinical and didactic teaching is also expected. Completed subspecialty fellowship training is highly desirable.
