The Medical University of Silesia in Katowice announces a competition for the position of Assistant Professor (research and teaching) (W/M)

Deadline for offer submission: Offers should be submitted by 21.09.2026 at 15:30. The competition is open to persons who meet the requirements of Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018. Law on Higher Education and Science.

Skills/Qualifications
1. Qualification requirements:
- Doctor habilitated in Medical Sciences,
- medical degree,
- license to practice medicine,
- teaching experience working with students,
- author of 20 original publications, including at least 5 original publications as the first author, published in journals or publishing houses included on the lists designated by the Minister responsible for higher education. For the purposes of this document, an "original publication" is defined as a scientific article or a scientific monograph (excluding book chapters)—definitions of which are set out in the regulation on the evaluation of the quality of scientific activity,
- authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications issued within the last two calendar years, earning at least 140 MNiSW points (Ministry of Science and Higher Education points) calculated based on the author's individual share. Publication points are calculated based on the year of publication,
- scientific achievements - author or co-author of 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals indexed with an > 80 Impact Factor (IF) or with a total ministerial score>500,
- documented teaching and organizational activity,
- experience related to participation in research and scientific projects, including international research projects,
- documented participation (at least as a researcher/research team member) in the implementation or preparation of research grants (that were not rejected during the initial stage of substantive evaluation) in collaboration with the Medical University of Silesia (ŚUM) within the framework of national competitions (specifically: NCN – National Science Centre, NCBiR – National Centre for Research and Development, MNiSW – Ministry of Science and Higher Education, FNP – Foundation for Polish Science, ABM – Medical Research Agency, and NAWA – Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, as well as regional ones, including MFWN – Metropolitan Science Support Fund) or international competitions, funded wholly or in part by external sources and awarded no earlier than four years prior to the application submission year. An applicant who is not an employee of the University may submit documents confirming the implementation of the aforementioned research projects during the specified period without the participation of ŚUM,
- good knowledge of spoken and written English, in the case of foreigners, knowledge of the Polish language in speech and writing is required.
Specific Requirements
- a written declaration of will to participate in the competition, addressed to the Rector,
- personal questionnaire for the person applying for employment,
- declaration of no criminal record,
- plan of scientific development,
- copies of documents confirming education and professional qualifications, in particular: higher education diploma, license to practice medicine, certificate of recognition of a foreign diploma as equivalent to a Polish diploma (if applicable),
- other documents confirming your qualifications (a list of publications with IF scores, ministerial scores, certificates held, etc.)
1. Required statements:
- statement of consent to process the personal data,
- statement of:
- having full legal capacity,
- enjoying full public rights,
- not being convicted of an intentional crime or intentional fiscal offence by a valid sentence,
- not being punished with a disciplinary penalty referred to in Article 276(1)(7) and (8) of the Law on Higher Education and Science;
- declaration of no other citizenship than one of the Republic of Poland and no residence in countries other than the Republic of Poland and country of citizenship during the last 20 years, pursuant to art. 21 par. 4 and 5 of the Act on the prevention of sexual violence and protection of the minors.
