Offer Description
The Faculty of Architecture is seeking a candidate for the post of Assistant Professor (research and teaching) in the Department of Architecture and Visual Arts (within the Drawing, Painting and Sculpture teaching team). The successful candidate will be responsible for research, teaching and organisational duties, primarily for the Department, but also for the Faculty.

- Scientific, research and creative activity aligned with the Faculty’s priority areas of development.
- Conducting teaching activities and developing educational programmes that address contemporary challenges in the visual arts and at the intersection of art and architecture.
- Organising and developing academic activities that support interdisciplinary collaboration, internationalisation, relations with the socio-economic environment, and the implementation of new forms of research, teaching and design practice.
Specific Requirements
- Candidates who meet the conditions set out in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Statutes of Wrocław University of Technology are eligible to apply for the competition.
- A completed degree in fine arts or fine arts/architecture, or fine arts/humanities (e.g. sociology, psychology, cultural studies, art history, etc.)
- A successfully defended doctoral degree in the discipline of fine arts and art conservation or architecture and urban planning.
- Proficiency in using digital tools supporting visual and graphic design;
- Fluency in Polish and English, both spoken and written – ability to teach in Polish and English;
- Creativity, the ability to work in a team, excellent interpersonal skills, and good communication skills.)
Research and Creative Activities
Candidates should demonstrate academic, research, and creative activity aligned with the Faculty’s priority areas of development, covering at least one of the following fields:
- the relationship between architecture and art,
- aesthetics and architectural theory,
- AI, data, and digital tools in visual design support,
- social research, participation, and mediation,
- criticism, analysis, and interpretation of architecture.
Note: International activities will be rated higher than domestic activities.
Obligatory:
- Conducting research in at least one of the areas listed above
- Documented academic and research achievements – authorship or co-authorship of at least one publication from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s list, worth at least 70 points, over the last four years
- Authorship of published visual artworks or artistic projects, including multimedia, performance, audiovisual, sculptural, or interdisciplinary works, as well as series of visual artworks or photographs; authorship of completed visual artworks in the field of design arts, including industrial design, interior design, set design, or landscape architecture
- Active participation in academic conferences (national or international)

- visual arts subjects supporting design using basic/traditional tools—e.g., drawing, painting, sculpture
- visual arts subjects supporting digital design—e.g., graphic design, photography, digital editing
- architecture-related design subjects—interior design, set design, fashion design, ceramics
Note: International activities will be rated higher than domestic activities.

* If the competition is won by an individual who is employed under an employment relationship with another employer conducting research, research and teaching, research and development, or implementation activities (excluding cases specified in Article 125, Section 3 of the Act), and such employment does not expire on the date of employment at Wrocław University of Science and Technology as their primary place of work, then, in accordance with Article 125, Section 1 of the Act, taking into account Article 125, Section 2 of the Act, such individual is required to obtain the Rector's consent to additional employment under an employment relationship with another employer after being hired at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The date of receipt of documents is decisive. The deadline for receipt of application documents is 3:00 PM on the day specified in the Competition Information. Receipt of the candidate's documents will be confirmed by the Human Resources Assistant via email to the address provided in the application.
Candidates' applications will be reviewed by a selection committee appointed by Magdalena Baborska-Narożny, PhD, DSc, Eng, Arch., University Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. After the competition process closes, applications submitted by post to candidates who were not accepted will be returned. Applicants will be able to collect their applications from the Human Resources Assistant within six months of the competition process closing, with acknowledgment of receipt.
