The Simmons University School of Social Work (SSW), the nation's oldest and New England's largest school of social work, invites applications for full-time, tenure-track, nine-month faculty appointments at the Assistant Professor level.

Primary teaching responsibilities are in our CSWE-accredited BSW or MSW programs (both on-campus and nationwide via our SocialWork@Simmons platform), with additional opportunities to mentor and teach in our online PhD and DSW programs.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide excellent teaching across the curriculum and contribute to curriculum development;
• Engage in scholarship that advances the mission of the social work profession, the SSW and Simmons University;
• Engage in service to the SSW, the University, and community at-large.

Required Qualifications

• An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program and a PhD in social work or a closely related discipline;
• Applicants with an earned DSW who have substantial research experience will also be considered.
• Record of teaching in higher education commensurate with rank;
• Clearly defined research agenda that directly or indirectly informs clinical practice with potential for sustained growth and external funding;
• Emerging record of publications in the peer-reviewed literature commensurate with rank;
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice in teaching, research, and service.

While scholars from all substantive backgrounds, including macro practice, are encouraged to apply, we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in:

• Substance Use and Misuse
• Social work practice with older adults
• Advanced clinical practice interventions & trauma
• Healthcare & health policy
• Military social work (active service members, veterans, and families)
• Child and adolescent mental health & addictions
• Global social work and study abroad
• Public policy

Position Details

• Appointment: Full-time, tenure-track, 9-month contract.
• Start Dates: Flexible start dates available for January 1, 2027, or July 1, 2027.

Salary Range: $76,950 - $85,700
