Assistant Professor, Special Education
Anticipated Start Date: August 2026
Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate/graduate courses emphasizing teacher preparation for high and low incidence disabilities at on-campus and off-campus sites. Duties include advising students, collaborating across university departments and the community as well as supervising students in field placements, teacher candidates, and first-year teacher interns. Service and research responsibilities will be consistent with a tenure-track assignment.
Minimum Education Requirements: Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in special education is required. ABDs with a documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements: Three years of teaching experience in P-12 special education is required. Experience in evidence-based interventions for students with disabilities is also required.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications: Doctorate in special education is preferred. Experience in best practices for students with learning disabilities or low incidences preferred. Experience in interpreting and administering curriculum-based measures and individual group achievement tests preferred. Experience with behavior analysis methodology, instructional methods, collaboration, and co-teaching strategies, curriculum design, assessment, research methodologies, technology, and web-assisted instruction preferred.
