We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:

Assistant Professor (S&T) (Ref: 26002BO)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

• Undertaking course planning, development, coordination and delivery (including classroom, laboratory, and project-based teaching) in areas related to artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and mechatronics;
• Participating in programme development, quality assurance, and accreditation exercise;
• Performing scholarly activities, producing high-quality publications, and pursuing external research funding in related discipline(s);
• Leading and promoting research collaborations with academic and industrial partners;
• Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research project(s);
• Supporting student development activities, including mentoring, competitions, and experiential learning;
• Undertaking / participating in School and University-wide activities and administration; and
• Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

• A doctoral degree in Artificial Intelligence, Automation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline;
• Relevant experience in the tertiary education sector;
• Competence in teaching / professional experience including programme development and course administration;
• Strong communication skills and the ability to use English as the medium of instruction;
• A distinguished record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals and leading conferences in robotics, intelligent systems, control, or automation;
• Substantial industrial or professional experience in robot perception, manipulation, control, autonomous systems, AI-enabled automation, or industrial robotics, or a related sector;
• A track record of applied research, technology transfer, consulting, or co-developed industry projects are preferred; and
• A record of securing competitive research funding will be an advantage.

Applicants who have less extensive experience and/or do not fully meet the requirements for appointment as Assistant Professor may be considered for appointment as Senior Lecturer.

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, a composite cash/housing allowance, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates.
