Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.
Cattle and dairy production are among the leading agricultural sectors in West Texas. The faculty member hired in this position is expected to work with Texas cattle, beef, and dairy producers, as well as swine and pork producers. Opportunities exist for the faculty member in this position to collaborate on research with Texas Tech's Free Market Institute to enable the development of a new program on free enterprise and livestock, and the School of Veterinary Medicine. The faculty hired in this position is expected to develop strong stakeholder engagement and outreach programs with cattle and dairy producers, agribusiness firms, industry organizations, and policymakers across West Texas.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an internationally recognized research, teaching, and graduate mentoring program in livestock economics, covering production, marketing, and policy aspects of the livestock sector.
