Assistant Professor (Tenure Track)
The Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute and the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University seek to recruit outstanding scientists at the Assistant Professor tenure-track level. We are seeking candidates from diverse backgrounds who have demonstrated exceptional ability, creativity and productivity, and are committed to a culture of inclusivity and belonging. Appropriate departmental affiliation will be decided after selection. Generous start-up funds, space, and mentorship will be provided. Research labs will be housed in the Jerome L. Greene Science Center, a highly interactive state-of-the-art facility on Columbia’s Manhattanville campus.
Areas of interest include research programs that: 1) employ genetic, genomic and evolutionary approaches to understand the neural basis of behavior; 2) employ state-of-the-art optical, chemical or electrical methodology combined with a computational approach to link neural circuitry to behavior, especially in genetically tractable mammalian model systems; 3) combine behavioral and physiological approaches to study cognitive processes; and 4) explore emerging issues in molecular, cellular, and developmental neurosciences. We particularly seek individuals who can complement our strength in integrating computational and empirical approaches to understanding the brain, from molecules to mind.
Columbia University has an exceptionally strong and broad program in the neurosciences with an aim to enhance interactions between basic and clinical research and to link the neurosciences with a wide range of other disciplines within the University. There are numerous opportunities for interaction with other scientific departments and programs at the Medical Center and Morningside Heights campuses.
Applications received by November 22, 2025 will receive full consideration. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.
