Bard College, a liberal arts college on the Hudson River, is a private institution working in the public interest.

Bard College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in modern United States history to begin in Fall 2026. Candidates should have completed their Ph.D. by the time of employment. Research focus and subfield of specialization are open. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach thematic courses related to their research interests, specialized seminars, the full range of U.S. history survey courses and broadly support student projects in American history. Candidates who pass the initial screening will be asked to submit a writing sample, teaching statement, and three letters of recommendation.

Compensation: $88,750-$91,500
This salary range reflects the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
