Job description (Immediately upon appointment)
The successful candidate will engage in teaching, research, and related academic and administrative duties, including:
- Teaching university-wide foreign language courses (English) and specialised courses in the Department of Language and Culture, Faculty of Letters.
- Serving as a secondary examiner for undergraduate theses in the European and American Languages and Cultures Course, Department of Language and Culture.
- Carrying out duties necessary for the smooth operation of education, research, and administration within the European and American Languages and Cultures Course.
- Participating in university administrative duties, including admissions-related work.

Depending on teaching and research achievements and following a formal review, the appointee may in the future be assigned:
- Primary supervision of undergraduate thesis research, and/or
- Teaching responsibilities in the Postgraduate Programme (Doctoral Programme, First Stage).

- Annual salary: 5 million yen - 6 million yen
- Working hours: 08:30-17:15
- Break time: 12:00-13:00
- Holidays, Days Off, etc.: Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays; summer vacation; year-end and New Year’s holidays.
- Overtime and other explanations: Discretionary labor system for professional work will be applied with the applicant's consent. *The working hours for a day are deemed as 7.75 hours.
- Employment type: Regular employee

Tenure Review
In accordance with the regulations governing the tenure-track system of the Nara National Institute of Higher Education and Research, a tenure review will be conducted no later than six months before the end of the tenure-track period.
Candidates who meet the tenure criteria will be granted tenure (i.e., permanent academic appointment without a fixed term). The evaluation process includes both an interim review and a final tenure review.
If tenure is not granted, employment will terminate upon completion of the tenure-track period.
