Position Summary

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Rollins College is seeking a candidate for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 2026. The primary responsibility will be teaching courses in Theatre History, Global Theatre, and Script Analysis. The department seeks a candidate whose research or performance expertise includes any of the following areas: African and African-American performance and drama, Latin American, Caribbean, or South American performance traditions and theatre, Indigenous and First Nations performance and drama, and other non-Western theatre forms not listed.

The successful candidate will also be expected to direct productions on a rotating schedule and should have experience directing undergraduates in various theatrical styles. The ability to teach beginning level Acting or Directing courses is preferred. Additional responsibilities include pursuing a program of scholarly research and/or professional theatrical activity; advising Rollins students; and other college and departmental service needs as required.

The appointee will be expected to: maintain a national and international profile as a scholar and/or practitioner of theatre; demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent, innovative teaching; expand the areas of interest represented in our department; and have the potential to work well with the variety of students in our wide-ranging undergraduate programs. They will also be expected to serve on departmental and faculty committees and participate in faculty governance as appropriate.
