Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences/ School of Nursing. Applicants with teaching interests and training expertise in any area of nursing practice are encouraged to apply. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on January 1, 2027.

The successful candidate is expected to support a spectrum of primarily undergraduate theory and clinical courses. Additionally, the candidate is expected to actively contribute to research and scholarship activities, as well as participate in departmental administrative service activities such as curriculum development and other administrative committee work associated with the nursing programs.
The School of Nursing is located on the Thunder Bay campus.

The School is committed to leading nursing education and scholarship in the promotion of health in Northwestern Ontario and beyond. We offer 4-year BScN and 3-year compressed BScN undergraduate nursing programs and a Master of Nursing (MN) graduate program with specializations in Advanced Nursing (AN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP). We have a strong partnership with Seven Generations Education Institute and also offer the 4-year BScN program to two regional campuses, namely Kenora and Rainy Lake/Fort Frances via a synchronized instructor model.
The successful candidate will:
- Degrees: Master’s degree in Nursing or related field and a PhD (or PhD in progress) in Nursing or related field are preferred. At least one graduate degree in Nursing is required.
- Licensure: Candidates must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) by the beginning of the appointment.
- Teaching: A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students. ...
- Research: Demonstrated scholarly research or creative activities, with record or evident promise of an innovative, independent research program producing high-impact outcomes for nursing education and practice. ...
- Service: Demonstrated or evident promise of contributions to the service and administrative activities of the undergraduate and graduate programs, the School, the university, and the broader community.
Compensation
The expected compensation range for this position is:
Assistant Professor: $88,094 - $133,223
Salary will be determined in accordance with the collective agreement and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
