Assistant Professor
Assistant Professor in Department of Early Childhood Education
Towson University is seeking applications for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Early Childhood Education, with a preferred start date of August 2026.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in early childhood education, child development, curriculum and instruction, teacher education, or related fields. ABD applicants may be considered if degree requirements are completed by June 1, 2027.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching.
- Evidence of sustained commitment to working in partnership with public schools, children, families, and/or other early childhood settings.
- Demonstrated success or potential to teach a wide variety of early childhood and/or gifted education courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Potential to develop a strong body of scholarship using an innovative, collaborative, or interdisciplinary research agenda.
- Three or more years’ experience working in public schools, Head Start programs, and/or other early childhood settings.
Responsibilities:
Instructional workload of six course units per academic year, which may include supervising student interns. Undergraduate advising is part of teaching responsibilities. Scholarly research productivity, programmatic assessment, and service to the department, college, and university are expected. Teaching may be in person on campus and/or via online formats, with additional duties based on qualifications and needs.

Towson University’s College of Education has been a leader in teacher preparation, with programs nationally recognized by NAEYC. Offers undergraduate and master’s programs in Early Childhood Education and Gifted and Creative Education.
Salary and Benefits:
Targeted salary range: $70,000, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits including health, life, retirement plans, and tuition remission.
