Assistant Professor, Information and Decision Sciences
Salary: $54,080 - $124,230
DUTIES: Teach undergraduate and potentially graduate courses in the areas of specialization; normal teaching load is 3 courses per semester. Engage in active scholarship and professional development. Fulfill other duties expected of a faculty member such as student advising, service to the profession, committee assignments and utilize effective teaching methods to enhance the success of diverse learners.
REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. or ABD in Information Systems or a closely-related field from an AACSB accredited institution. If ABD, doctoral degree must be completed before date of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Enterprise Information Systems, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be a plus; Experience or demonstrated potential as an innovative teacher with strong instructional skills in the area of specialization; Proven record of, or potential for, publication in high-quality refereed journals.
Assistant Professor of Communication
Salary: $53,400 - $65,650
DUTIES: Teach undergraduate courses primarily in our "Community and Professional" and "Public Relations and Strategic Communication" tracks, including interpersonal and mediated communication. Demonstrate appropriate levels of scholarly activity, service (contributions to university, professional, and community committees, organizations, and groups), student academic advisement, and effective teaching and classroom management strategies that enhance the success of diverse learners.
REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. or ABD in Communication or related field. If ABD, appointment will be at Instructor level and Ph.D. must be issued within 1 year of offer. Preferred Qualifications: We welcome candidates whose careers demonstrate a shared commitment to these values and with ability to incorporate them into their teaching to enhance our current curriculum. Applicants who have experience teaching and/or have worked in the field of communication are preferred. Candidates whose work incorporates global perspective in the field of communication are particularly encouraged to apply.
Assistant Professor – Geographic Information Science
Salary: $70,630 - $78,780
DUTIES: Teach up to 24 credit hours (or equivalent, generally six courses and several labs) per year in support of core and advanced undergraduate courses in GIScience. Examples of courses that the applicant might teach include Introduction to GIS, Cartographic Visualization, Statistical Problem Solving in Geography, Advanced GIS, and the University’s First-Year Seminar. Additionally, the candidate will offer courses in their specific area of expertise. Faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda in an area of specialization, engage undergraduate students in research, challenge undergraduate majors and General Education students with integrated instruction and utilize an effective teaching style that supports a diverse student body. While this position is primarily focused on undergraduate teaching with a demonstrated ability to support undergraduate research, opportunities exist to contribute to our graduate program in GIS Management, which was recognized with the 2022 AAG Program Excellence Award for Graduate Education. Candidates are invited to join existing externally-funded outreach activities of the Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative (ESRGC).
REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in Geography with a concentration in Geographic Information Science or related discipline. If ABD; would be hired at the rank of Instructor, with the requirement that candidate complete doctoral degree within one year. Experience using the Esri suite of GIS products; the use of open-source GIS software, and Python programming skills is preferred.
