Assistant Professors of Communication and Emerging Media – Communication and Media Generalists (2 positions)
The Department of Communication and Emerging Media at the University of South Carolina Aiken invites applications for two full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professors, with an expected start date of August 16, 2026. Candidates must have a PhD in communication or mass communication, or related field, by the time of appointment. Preference is given to those with communication or mass communication degrees.
Candidates should demonstrate effective teaching at the undergraduate level, interest in service to the department, university, and community, and evidence of scholarly productivity. Specialties should bridge traditional communication studies with media/mass communication, including teaching core courses like interpersonal communication or public speaking, and upper division courses in communication studies and/or media production. Faculty have a 4-4 teaching load and are expected to engage in high-impact pedagogy and academic advisement.
Successful candidates will create or redesign classes for workforce preparation in communications and media industries, assist in developing a new MA graduate program, and teach graduate courses. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The department offers BA degrees in Communication and Emerging Media, both on-ground and online, along with minors and a certificate in Strategic Communication, serving approximately 110 majors.
