Assistant Registrar
Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. It is the oldest of New Jerseys 19 Associate Degree Colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. The College enrolls almost 30,000 credit, non-credit and continuing education students and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Many programs lead to the Associate in Arts, Science and Applied Science degrees.
General Description:
The Assistant Registrar will provide leadership and support to both staff and students in a dynamic, student-centered educational environment. Serving as a representative of the Registrar's Office on the Cranford and Elizabeth campuses, this individual plays a key role in managing student information systems, offering technical support, and ensuring the accuracy and maintenance of student records in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist as technical liaison for the Registrar with programs used by the office, such as, Colleague, Perceptive Content, Assuresign and Coursedog.
- Assist the Registrar with institutional reporting, including enrollment reporting with the National Student Clearinghouse.
- Assist with the management of transfer credit evaluation.
- Oversee the knowledge transfer and training of One-Stop Staff in Registrar Office functions.
- Assist with the supervision of Registrar Office staff on the Cranford and Elizabeth Campuses. Ensure that employees create a welcome environment in the office, respond to telephone and email correspondence in a timely and courteous manner.
- Assist the Registrar in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA.
- Assist in the development, maintenance and operation of the Datatel Colleague Student system.
- Interact with other departments and faculty to promote consistency and accuracy of policies and procedures.
- Manage and coordinate the set up and technical support for all of the department's registration modules and processes in Colleague, the student information system.
- Develop expertise and maintain current knowledge of all procedures used to trouble shoot issues and implement processes to streamline workflows.
- Assist with the implementation of new technology.
- Participate actively in institutional committees and special projects as needed.
- Perform other relevant tasks as required.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required to demonstrate core competencies, Master's Degree Preferred
Experience:
- Minimum five years in college admissions/registration and/or related areas.
- Experience managing student information systems and related technologies.
- Skilled in web intelligence data analytics and report generation.
- Strong understanding of FERPA regulations and compliance requirements.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Some travel required.
