Position Highlights
The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix is accepting applications for an assistant research professor with expertise and funding in musculoskeletal biomechanics, human movement science and concussion. This position will participate in biomechanics research projects in conjunction research assistants, sports scientists and clinical faculty at the Banner Sports Medicine Scottsdale facility, including the Banner High Performance Center.
The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in the Department of Orthopaedics, actively participate in teaching, research and/or scholarly work, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of assistant professor.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide expertise in the development, implementation, oversight and evaluation of athletic performance using high speed marker-less camera systems, force plate technology and data integration software for all sports including, but not limited to, baseball, softball, basketball, sprinting, golf, volleyball, soccer and football.
- Establish a nationally recognized academic research program in collaboration with Banner - University Medical Group (BUMG) orthopaedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians. Research focus to be on musculoskeletal biomechanics, human movement science and concussion with local and national grant funding opportunities to be a key driver to this program. Strong grant writing skills and expertise is an essential function.
- Responsible for the development of human movement assessment designed to personalize injury prevention programs for all athletes and teams of all ages and athletic ability. Implementation of these comprehensive assessments and programs will include strength and conditioning, athletic enhancement and injury prevention.
- Develop and maintain quality control and system infrastructure as it relates to data collection from human performance and integrate into treatment protocols that integrate training for athletes of all levels and ages. Data collection also incorporated into scientific peer reviewed research studies in all aspects of human movement.
- Oversee all data research programs within the performance training center for sports medicine and orthopedics with oversight and implementation of a mentoring program for residents, fellows and students from various backgrounds.
- Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications
- Hold a PhD in musculoskeletal field or related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrate a track record of publishing research findings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Have a minimum of two years' experience.
- Demonstrate experience mentoring students in research projects.
- Demonstrate experience supervising faculty and staff.
- Have outstanding interpersonal communication and professionalism skills.
