Job Summary
Job ID 269198. Position # 40070699. The Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University is recruiting for an Assistant Research Scientist. The purpose of this Assistant Research Scientist position is to have a scientist with medical knowledge and scientific research experience to conduct research on both human samples and mouse models for cancer signaling and drug development research for precision medicine research. The scientist would also be responsible for general lab management, including purchasing materials, and ensuring all safety protocols are updated. The scientist would be required to conduct independent research, preparing manuscripts and research grants. Lastly, the scientist will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) and the other scientist in the lab for collaborative research and student mentoring. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.
Responsibilities
- Develop the methodology for scientific research projects
- Write, submit, obtain regulatory approval, monitor, and conduct the trials necessary to conduct research.
- Write grant proposals for obtaining intra- and extra-mural funding.
- Be able to fulfill other tasks assigned by supervisor
- Supervise medical students and younger researchers
- Write, review, and publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Present research results at relevant scientific conferences
- Participate actively in the Cancer Center and Department educational conferences and activities including research meetings.
- Act as project manager for RAD-AID project
- Develop algorithms using R language for data analysis.
- Oversee statistical analyses for the research projects of the team.
- Conduct data collection for research projects.
Required Qualifications
PhD or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
