Job Description
Role Overview
The Finance Business Partner (FBP) plays a pivotal role in supporting the financial sustainability of NUS College. Reporting to Cluster Finance Lead, this role encompasses strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, process improvement, and business partnering. The FBP provides actionable financial insights and advice to support both operational and strategic decision-making across the College.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Operations & Accounting Support
- Manage accounting-related functions and reporting requirements.
- Advise internal stakeholders and other divisions on finance policies and guidelines, ensuring compliance with School-wide standards.
- Collaborate with functional teams to contextualize finance and accounting information.
- Budgeting, Planning & Monitoring
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial projections.
- Monitor departmental expenditures to ensure alignment with management directives and maintain fiscal discipline.
- Fund & Resource Planning
- Plan and review resource allocation for operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity, responding to unbudgeted expenditures through resource reallocation or fund liquidation.
- Financial & Management Reporting
- Prepare management reports to inform stakeholders and support effective decision-making.
- Liaise with NUS Office of Finance on accounting, quarterly reporting, balance sheets, and cash management.
- Engage key stakeholders including the Dean, department heads, and central Finance.
- Business Partnering & Process Improvement
- Provide financial insights through engagement sessions with departments to support sustainability.
- Identify opportunities for productivity gains and operational improvements to enhance stakeholder satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree of Accountancy or related field.
- Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience; audit experience preferred.
- Experience in higher education, public sector, or government is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; diplomatic in stakeholder interactions.
