Assistant Sports Information Coordinator
Position Summary
The Staff Assistant, Assistant Sports Information Coordinator assists the Sr. Associate Director in all facets of athletics communication, including game-day operations of press box, statistics, game programs, post-game and conference reporting, interfacing with external media, video stream, and social media, and video board; to promote Westfield State University athletics to the general public, prospective students, students, and families. Primary responsibilities for game-day operations, oversight of video stream setup, student staffing, broadcasting, and production of social media video content.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include but not limited to:
- Enter game-day statistics via PrestoStats/NCAA Live Stats or similar program.
- Manage webstream broadcasts of Westfield State home athletic events, including broadcast set up, production, and train and manage student and part-time announcing and video staff.
- Produce and archive video clips for use on social media, advertisements and promotions, year end awards and Hall of Fame ceremonies.
- Write game stories, previews, features and press releases.
- Assist with conference, coaches' organization, and NCAA reporting for statistics, player of the week, all-conference, all-academic, and similar awards nominations.
- Follows all NCAA and MASCAC rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preference to communication, sport management, and/or TV/Video majors.
- Experience with in-game statistical entry (Presto, NCAA/Genius Live Stats/Stat Crew).
- Experience with video production (camera set up, Production Truck or similar switching software, video editing).
- Digital photography, editing and layout (Photoshop/InDesign).
- Social media content construction (Video, photo, and graphics).
- General sports writing or news reporting experience.
- General Website CMS Management.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, opponents, student athletes, and media.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- Two years working in a collegiate sports information office.
